JAN KI BAAT EDITORIAL: LESSONS FROM FRANCE RIOTS

France,  the country with the largest muslim population in Western world is BURNING. There’s non stop rioting, arson, vandalism, violence and absolute anarchy everywhere. The scenes playing out on the streets of Paris are terrifying. Rioters are looting police vehicles stocked with weapons and are going on a rampage. The historic library in Marseille has been reduced to ashes.

Why is this happening and why is the situation spiralling out of control?

On the face of it, one might say, the French police’s firing action on 17 year old Nehal M, led to it but think about it – the larger issue, the real issue! Is Nehal’s death being used by radicals to unleash a brutal war on ‘secular’ France?

IS DEMOGRAPHY CHANGE THE REAL ISSUE?

Demography of France has rapidly changed in the last few years. At present, Muslim population in France is 5.7 million, & is expected to reach 8.7 million in the next few years. Truth be told – the riots in France are because of excessive liberalism, & turning a blind eye to the rapidly changing demography.  When demography changes so does polity, & society. World over, be it in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey or other Islamic countries – there are no liberal values, neither is there gender equality. In most of these countries. Sharia is followed as a rule of law.

There are lessons every country must learn from the riots in France. Here are 6 of them

1) ACT BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!

2) RADICALISATION IS A REALITY

3) RIOTERS & RADICALS DESERVE NOTHING LESS THAN IRON FIST TREATMENT

4) DO NOT IGNORE THE WARNINGS

5) NIP THE PROBLEM IN THE BUD

6) BE LIBERAL, BE SECULAR BUT NOT AT THE COST OF NATIONAL SECURITY

One might want to ask, did ‘liberal’ France ignore all the signs? All the warnings?

Here are some facts

November 2015: Terror Attack in Paris killed hundreds

2015-2018: 249 people were killed in France in 22 terror attacks!

2016: French authorities reported that 120 Islamic prayer halls were disseminating Salafist ideas

2016: Authorities in France had shut down 20 mosques because they were propagating Hate Speech.

2018: EU anti-terror coordinator estimated that there are at least 17,000 radicalised Muslims and jihadists living in France

2019: French authorities closed cafés, schools, and mosques in about 15 neighborhoods because they were disseminating communal ideas

WHAT CAN INDIA LEARN?

In India, leaders must not ignore and turn a blind eye to regions where demography is changing – disproportionately. A few such areas are Seemanchal in Bihar, Malda in West BengL, Santhal in Jharkhand.Disproportionate demography change is a cause of concern and if it is being done with the intention of creating and consolidating a specific votebank, then it’s even more alarming. Politics at the cost of national security has always done us harm.
