The 2nd Day of Training and Educating the common public about a Cashless Future took place in Lajpat Nagar, Delhi, under the Guidance of Meenakshi Lekhi, a BJP Member of Parliament. This move of demonetization, for Lekhi, is capable of capturing the process of transformation of India. Digital India would be a testimony of Indias advancement, not only technologically but also economically and socially. A passerbys interest was peaked with Lekhis speech, saying he was impressed with how easy-to-use the Apps and online wallets were.
When PM Modi declared his, and his governments idea to sweep the nation, on 8th November 2016, the demonetization drive had begun. Getting rid of black money was a major portion of BJPs 2014 list of goals. Sudden withdrawal of the legal tender of ?1000 and ?500 was questioned by many. Though demonization was lauded for its noble goal, it was at the same time critiqued the in-built flaws it had.
Greater transparency, erasure of the black currency and an increase in the number of taxpayers were all part of the process that begun with demonetization. What happens next, remains to be seen.
