The workers of Bhartiya Janata Party stormed into the party’s Lucknow official quarters to exhibit their displeasure against the BJP’s ticket distribution and selected choice of candidates, on 25th of January. They disproved of outsiders being given tickets and status of candidature instead of the local workers. The UP BJP President, Keshav Prasad Maurya, was surrounded by the protestors, too, demanding answers to their questions.

UP Election of 2017 would see politically charged sentiments battling for seats in the 403-member assembly. The BJP came out with its first list of 149 candidates in the 2nd week of January. The second list, comprising of 155 names, was revealed on 22nd January and the recent list of 67 candidates came out on two days later. UP Elections start from the 11th of February and would extend till March.

The BJP has fielded many candidates that have defected from other political parties and a few that have arisen due to their kin connections. How the Party will respond to the worker’s questions will be public knowledge soon.
