In a shocking turn of events, Supreme Court lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai has written a letter to Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora against Trinamool Congress Member of Parliament (MP) Mahua Moitra, accusing her of theft and ‘kidnapping’ of his cherished pet dog, Henry. Jai Anant Dehadrai is the central character in the ‘Cash for Query’ scandal involving TMC MP Mahua Moitra, it’s his complaint that brought the allegations against Mahua Moitra to the forefront. On the 26th of October, Lok Sabha Ethics committee will be questioning him on the evidence he has to back his charges against Moitra. It’s important to note here that after the allegations surfaced, Mahua Moitra referred to him as her ‘jilted ex’

The Accusation of ‘Dog Theft’

In a written complaint addressed to the Delhi Commissioner of Police, Jai Anant Dehadrai stated, “This is with reference to the theft and illegal retention of my three-year-old pet dog named Henry (Rottweiler breed) by Ms. Mahua Moitra, M.P., Lok Sabha, Resident of 9-B, Telegraph Lane, New Delhi – 110001.” The subject line of the complaint reads, “Complaint against Ms. Mahua Moitra, M.P., for Theft and Illegal Retention of my pet dog named Henry.”

‘Henry is my child’

Dehadrai’s emotional connection with his dog, Henry, is evident in his statement. He expressed, “My bond with my dog Henry is that of a parent and a child. I have looked after him since he was 40 days old, and I understand his every need and concern.”

‘Mahua’s intent is to harass and blackmail me’

The lawyer accused Moitra of ‘stealing’ his pet dog in response to the CBI complaint he filed against her. He claimed, “Ms. Moitra has deliberately kidnapped and hidden Henry away from me since 10.10.2023, with the intent to harass and blackmail me in response to the CBI Complaint dated 14.10.2023, which I have filed against her.”

‘Tremendous threat to my life’

Dehadrai’s complaint extends beyond the mere recovery of his pet. He pleaded with the police to safeguard his life and liberty, highlighting the urgency of the situation. He requested, “I would request you with folded hands and all humility that this dog Henry belongs with his rightful owner-parent. Time is of the essence, and I would beseech you to please reunite me with Henry at the earliest. Under such circumstances, I anticipate tremendous fear and threat to my life. I request you to please protect my life and liberty and help me get my dog Henry back.”

This unusual complaint has captured public attention, and has added a completely new dimension to the ‘Cash for Query’ case involving TMC MP Mahua Moitra. While the complex interplay between the alleged theft, the CBI complaint, and the emotional connection between Jai Anant Dehadrai and his beloved Rottweiler, Henry, will continue to be a subject of interest and intrigue.
