Lakhanjar village in Lalitpur district of Uttar Pradesh has introduced us to Lakhanlalji, a local agent of change. Pradip Bhandari speaks to Mr Lakhanlal to trace the origins of his transformative leadership. It was Mr Lakhanlal that made certain primary facilities like toilets and schools available for the residents of Lakhanjar. A 30 kilometre long village has 8 kilometres of jungle-area. Although the village does not have pukka, constructed roads, it has been luckily allowed to enjoy basic amenities for which the credit goes to Mr Lakhanlal.
Lakhanjar is a small Village/hamlet in Mandawara Tehsil in Lalitpur District of Uttar Pradesh State, India. It comes under Lakhanjar Panchayat. It belongs to Jhansi Division. It is located 56 KM towards South from District headquarters Lalitpur and 413 KM from State capital Lucknow. Swachh Bharat Mission and linked campaigns, like creating open-defecation free villages, cleanliness etc. have been realized by Mr Lakhanlal, and through him, the villagers of Lakhanhar. The roads may not be built but the facilities and services are quire solid.
A good beginning, Mr Lakhanlalji has made a positive impact upon the residents of Lakhanjar because of his innate goodness and willingless to bring about a change in the daily lifestyles of the villagers.
