JAN KI BAAT WITH AISA+SFI PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE MOHIT.K PANDEY.

This year’s JNU Elections would see the All India Students’ Association and Students Federation of India join hands to fight fascist forces. The aligned AISA and SFI’s candidate spoke to Pradip Bhandari and Akriti Bhatia about the rivalry that exists between Leftist faction and the Right, which is BJP’s student wing Akhil Bhartiya Vidya Praishad and BAPSA this year. Attempts to defeat the Left front are futile, said the candidate. Campus politics has a longdrawn history and this history is a testimony to the perseverance of the Left. The voterbase would this year be divided with the entry of BAPSA which has a strong Dalit support. JNU has also stood for the downtrodden and the oppressed and this year would be no different. The candidates in the Left alliance are diverse. The Stand With JNU movement unified all students, despite their ideological difference, but time has come for fascism to take a backseat: allegations like sedition are serious charges meant to repress truth and student concerns must be defended at all costs.

The process of filing nominations has begun and the final list of candidates will be declared on September 1, followed by a press conference. Polling is set for September 9. Last year, CPI’s student wing All India Students Federation (AISF) had won the JNUSU polls winning the president’s post, while ABVP had secured one of four central panel slots after a gap of 14 years.

JNU is known to celebrate difference, something that the Left front has cultivated within its ranks. Who will win this year?
