Jan Ki Baat Selfie Interview with Saurav Ganguly

Pradip Bhandari and Akriti Bhatia, the Founder and co-Founder of Jan Ki Baat, spoke to Saurav Ganguly, the former captain of the Indian Cricket team and one of India’s strongest cricketers, to unearth some of Dada’s favourite, anecdotal moments. Quite modestly, Dada said that the secret behind his square drive was a bit of practice and a bit of talent. His greatest victory till date has been his fortune that allowed him to play what he loves and play it for his nation. When asked which format of cricket match did he like better, Dada said that ODI and Test cricket was a good test for a cricketer but the 20-20 format, too, since it was the flavour of the day, wasn’t too bad. The best innings of his career was, according to him, in his Test debut in 1996, against England. Dada’s message to his fans was simple: there isn’t any shortcut for success; to those going to represent India in Rio Olympics: strike brilliance.

Saurav Ganguly is the 8th highest run-scorer in the history of ODIs, and 2nd India, with 11,363 runs score. He is the fastest batsman to reach 9,000 ODI runs. His record in test batting average has never gone below 40. He also has been one of the only five cricketers to achieve the rare treble of 10,000 runs, 100 wickets and 100 catches in ODI cricket; one of the fourteen cricketers, in the world, to have played 100 or more Tests and 300 or more ODIs. The former Indian captain’s been names the most successful captain overseas, leading India to win 11 out of 28 matches. A recipient for Arjuna Award and Padma Shri, Saurav Ganguly has been a gem.

The team of Jan Ki Baat salutes this brilliant cricketer who has been an inspiration to many young enthusiasts hoping to make an entry into the world of cricket.
