As India celebrates its 70th Anniversary of Independence, the date serves as a reminder of the nations history and the futuristic vision its citizenry are nurturing. On the 15th of August, in the year of 1947, India had finally claimed itself as an independent nation-state, free from foreign rule. The event was marked by the first Prime Minister of independent India, Jawaharlal Nehrus speech, Tryst with Destiny. Indias colonial past, years of oppression finally saw an end on August 15, setting a tone for its bright future. With freedom comes greater responsibility; India continues its fight against the injustices it faced and the injustices other nations are still encountering.
Jan Ki Baat celebrates the day, wishing the citizens a happy and prosperous Independence Day. As Rabindranath Tagore said, Freedom is the soul of every country.
