The idea of building Smart City Delhi seems like a distant dream if regions like Lado Sarai are taken into account. Gauhar Ali ji spoke to Pradip Bhandari, the Founder of Jan Ki Baat, about the filth that lies in the midst of Lado Sarai. Ali ji says that the workers rarely visit the area to clean it. All the garbage and waste is disposed here as this is largely recognized as a disposal site despite the fact that for the past one year, there has been no dustbin in the area.
According to a Times of India report, 10,000 crores has already been spent on sanitation. The CAG reports that Sanitation programmes in the city have failed to achieve their targets. With campaigns like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Smart Cities, India authorities still are unable to devise fullproof mechanisms to tackle with issues related to waste management.
