UP Elections 2017: Conspiracy Theory 1

The team of Jan Ki Baat theorizes about the conflict between the Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and his son and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav. Jan Ki Baat wonders if the series of clashes occurred recently are a bunch of co-incidences or part of a schematic, pre-planned structure. The tussle between Mulayam Singh and Akhilesh Yadav for the party’s political symbol, the cycle, might’ve led to freezing of the symbol, causing problems for the SP which would be left without a symbol. This would, in turn, become the opposition parties’ advantage. Jan Ki Baat also brings to focus the current chief of the Election Commission of India, Mr Nasim Zaidi who hails from the city of Meerut, UP.

The UP Elections 2017 would prove itself as a battleground for a number of parties and for a number of reason. The poll-pound state would bear witness to the clash between 3 different, politically, ideologically as well as socially, parties: emergence of Akhilesh Yadav is one of the SP’s major concerns and the recent SP-Congress tie-up reveals this anxiety; the Bahujan Samaj Party led by Mayawati hopes to redeem its political future and rid itself off of charges of corruption; the BJP, too, hopes to capture the State’s seats to achieve its vision of a Congress-mukt India.

The UP Elections hold a lot in store for these camps, emblematic of the public mood. UP, population-wise and size-wise, would be a major victory for whichever party wins the Elections.
