The Supreme Court of India in a scathing observation yesterday directed at Former Indian Football Chief Praful Patel said he was “trying to torpedo the tournament” after it came to notice that FIFA’s suspension of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) would result in India losing the right to host the Under-17 Women’s World Cup scheduled for October.
Before being disbanded, the Committee of Administrators ( CoA) made some startling observations about ‘ substantial Siphoning of funds’ by the former AIFF management led by Praful Patel.
It is pertinent to say here, that Pradeep Bhandari, Founder & CEO of Jan Ki Baat & host of India’s most talked about Primetime show Janta Ka Mukadma had in its earlier episode which aired on 17th August 2022 put out the facts & raised questions on the way the Former Indian Football Chief went about with the functioning of AIFF raising serious doubts about his role in the country’s Fifa Ban.
'Mr Praful Patel, your greed for power, your ego, your self interest is not above the nation, it is not above our players, it is not above Indian football' –

Pradeep Bhandari claimed that Praful Patel who had been removed as President of the AIFF has consistently abused his position as Council Member of FIFA to orchestrate a campaign against his own country & jeopardise the very steps taken by Honourable Supreme Court for the betterment of football, including having footballers involved in governance and administration.
Pradeep Bhandari in his DALEEL during the show had also played the alleged Exclusive audio tapes which revealed former AIFF chief and National Congress Party (NCP) MP Praful Patel’s purpoted dubious role in India’s Fifa Ban. In the audio tapes he was heard instructing the people about the ban threatened by FIFA on Indian football.
In the audio tapes, Praful Patel almost predicted the decision that FIFA will strip India the right to host the under-17 Women’s World Cup, scheduled for October.
Pradeep Bhandari had also accessed a letter in which the ousted AIFF Chief allegedly intimated the international governing body of association football FIFA of developments in India. We had claimed how Praful Patel may have had a role in instigating the FIFA to get AIFF banned.
The Supreme court on Monday disbanded the Committee of Administrators ( COA) to facilitate the revocation of AIFF’s ban from hosting of the prestigious U-17 Women’s World Cup in India on October.
The Supreme Court also said Praful Patel attempted to sabotage the tournament despite knowing that the country would lose the right to host the Under-17 Women’s World Cup, the court said sharing the very concerns we raised on our show on Janta Ka Mukadma. This was stated by Justice DY Chandrachud, who headed the two-judge bench hearing the petition to dissolve the Committee of Administrators (CoA), which manages the day-to-day affairs of the AIFF.
It is also pertinent to note here that when the SC intended to issue notice on the COA’s Petition alleging Siphoning of AIFF funds under Praful Patel’s tenure, it was Kapil Sibal, the latter’s counsel who requested the court to defer issuances of notice to the former AIFF Chief.
Pradeep Bhandari on Janta Ka Mukadma has always raised issues that matter to country’s interests. In raising serious doubts about the role of Praful Patel in the FIFA Ban against our country, & Supreme Court sharing the same concerns, our stand remains vindicated. Readers in our coloumn and this country at large will always be indebted to our Football players for bringing glory to this country. It is time we bring in a complete reform to a otherwise mundane AIFF & take this country to greater heights in the realm of Soccer.
