The video attempts to capture the voices of the common men and women regarding the Uttar Pradesh Election 2017, whose first phase begins in February. The split in the current ruling Samajwadi Party, has sent shivers down the States spine, forcing it to choose between the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and his father, the SP leader, Mulayam Singh Yadav. A number of people that the team of Jan Ki Baat spoke to, all favoured Akhilesh Yadav. Some of the reasons they stated for their choices were mutually-shared: Akhilesh, being a young leader, has become the voice of the youth in UP and has emerged as the next viable candidate because he has proven himself through the work he has undertaken in UP.
The Akhilesh-Mulayam tussle has been one with serious implications on the State. Revelation of the internal clashes between the two and the consequent movement in separate directions, reflects at the Partys inability to peacefully reconcile the in-fighting. What the residents of UP would want as their leader will be known to all soon enough.
