BJP was founded in 1980 with Integral humanism, Social conservatism, Conservatism, Hindu nationalism, Gandhian socialism and Hindutva ideology. It won 86 Lok Sabha seats in 1989 elections, a tally which made its support crucial to the National Front government of V. P. Singh. Since then a lot has changed and today the scenario is that BJP has a majority in both houses.
