Jan Ki Baat
Between 18–24 March, 2020, ‘Jan Ki Baat’ conducted a nationwide poll over Phone calls, encompassing all the age-groups (18–40, 41–65 and 65 above) across 20 states and Union Territories — to decode an Indian citizen’s imagery of a Contagion outbreak in the world’s most densely populated country — their fears, apprehensions and levels of Optimistic insinuations due to the steps taken by the government to contain the Outbreak.
Abstract: As unprecedented precautionary measures started being taken all over India before the world’s largest democracy went into a three-weeks long nationwide lock down, the adrenaline of public machinery had already rushed to its optimum to contain the viral outbreak of the contagion CoVID-19 corona virus. It is during these distressing times that we dialed over 2,000 numbers all over the country to feel the pulse of the nation to break down the state of the nation in simplistic yet elaborated numbers. We asked people about their Corona virus related fears, precautionary measures they’ve been taking and felt the impact of immense dispensation of information taking place across the mediums to inform people about the biggest Public Health challenge that has broken the globalized channels in this century.
Methodology: This quantitative study has been conducted via Phone interviews by the Jan ki Baat verified citizen reporter model present across the country. The sample has been picked randomly being representative of the demographic, and age profile of the country. There have been three age groups 18 to 40,40 to 65, and 65 plus which have been selected in this study. The questions in the survey have been asked sequentially. The entire data response has been embedded in the Jan Ki Baat Probability Map of Outcome Model to remove the error.
