Q.8 If the situation deteriorates, do you find the health infrastructure capable enough in the country to tackle it?
Most people believe that an accelerating spread of the virus will overburden the current health infrastructure.
People are aware of Indian medical infrastructure’s poor state. As for Karnataka, Harshitha Varadraj seemed stern confident that her state will be able to manage the pandemic as the progress made by the state in the procurement of ventilators and medical equipment is steady. ‘We will certainly be able to combat it,’ Harshitha triumphs. But as for a Mumbai-based Pharmaceutical industry associate Nishiraj Wagh, the road ahead is bumpy. He was afraid that if the disease went out in slums, Bombay would collapse worse than any terror attack the city had braved before. The responses from the capital were mixed. Similarly responses from Punjab, Himachal and even Assam were positive, however, Arman Raj from Ranchi doesn’t even want to imagine the state of medical infrastructure in the ‘androoni areas’ of Jharkhand if a full-fledged outbreak takes place.

Q. 9 What will be impact on economy because of corona?
Majority of the people said that their jobs would be impacted and their disposable income would come down.
Housewives said that their spending power would reduce dramatically in case of a sustained lockdown, but as for Sudha Rani of Hyderabad, ‘she will deal with it for her country’. For Nishiraj Wagh, his pharmaceutical industry would boom like nobody else – but admits that culinary business (which Wagh previously was part of, in Mumbai) would be hit very badly.
