JKB desk-It is popularly believed that by proposing to give the separate religion state to Lingayats Congress could splinter the favourable votes of the BJP. Hoowever the travel in Jevargi(80%) Lingayat dominated belt convey the following-
1. The Lingayats consider this more as an election “stunt”. They ask -” Why the move was brought before the election?” They also enlist the lack of focus given by Chief Minister Siddaramaiha to Lingayat dominated areas of North Karnataka.
” he did not visit Jevargi once after getting re-elected.”
With this sentiment common in North Karnataka, it needs to be seen whether the Lingayats will also express this feeling through ballot.
